Bars & Restaurants

There are a number of exceptionally good restaurants in St Martin de Belleville and the surrounding area including the 3 star Michelin restaurant La Bouitte, located just a few kilometres up the valley from us in the beautiful village of St Marcel.  La Bouitte offers a free of charge taxi service for clients from St Martin wishing to dine there.  St Martin itself boasts two Michelin listed restaurants, Le Montagnard and Etoile des Neiges, plus a large array of more affordable and family friendly restaurants and snack bars all within walking distance of Chalet Alice Velut.  There is something for everyone and for every palate with menu options varying from simple burgers, pizzas, salads and crepes at La Voute and L’Eterlou to traditional Savoyard fondues, raclettes and pierrades at Le Lachenal and Le Montagnard and many fine dining options beyond.  In addition to La Bouitte, there are a number of other wonderful dining experiences within the villages and mountains that surround, notably the Chantacoucou, La Ferme de la Choumette and the alpage Chez Pepe Nicolas, all of which also offer free of charge taxi services to/from for clients staying in St Martin.

Après ski spots coming down into Saint Martin are plentiful with St Martin guests usually opting for a drink in either La Loy (on the piste), Le Dhalia (opposite the Saint Martin 1 gondola), L’Eterlou (at the foot of the drag lift/teleski) or in our very own P Bar, the vaulted lounge bar in the basement of our chalet building.  We host live music two afternoons per week in the P Bar, typically on a Sunday and a Thursday, starting at approximately 5 o’clock and finishing by approximately 8 o’clock.  Bars for the evening within St Martin include Le Joker, Le Billig, our P Bar and Alp Hotel.  The nearest nightclub is in Les Menuires, 450m or so up from the valley from St Martin.

Catering Services

There are now two companies that offer a food delivery service within the Belleville valley.  Your apartment could be catered for with evening meals, breakfasts and afternoon tea delivered to your door each day.  Food arrives in oven ready containers for you to simply pop in the oven and warm through after a busy day on the slopes saving you the time and energy involved in cooking and preparing meals yourself.  These services must be booked in advance of your arrival.

Supermarket Shopping / Delicatessan

It is always a good idea to stop in Moutiers at the big CARREFOUR supermarket before you climb the hill if you have time and obviously only if you are arriving by car / car hire.  CARREFOUR in Moutiers, as all supermarkets outside of resort, is far cheaper than the in resort supermarket and obviously has a much wider range or stock and produce to choose from.  There is however a very well stocked supermarket in St Martin itself, a butchers, a bakery / pattisery and two delicatessans.  Many of our clients arrive by transfer without the means to shop oustdie of resort and shopping within resort is always adquante and never a problem.

Non-skiing

In addition to being a ski station, St Martin is a beautiful and traditional French alpine village surrounded by spectacular mountains and scenery and is therefore appealing to both skiers and non-skiers alike.  With a good pair of walking boots you are able to explore this beautiful area by foot, not just by skis!  Chalet Alice Velut is in the heart centre of the village and all village amenities, shops, cafes and restaurants are within walking distance.  For the non skier activities in the area include mapped walking trails, guided snow shoeing excursions, tobogganing, swimming, cross country skiing, bowling, paragliding, dog sledding, ski-dooing and yoga, not to mention visiting a local spa / beauty centre or simply just sitting in one of the cafes or restaurants and relaxing whilst admiring the mountain view.  Lift passes can be purchased from the lift office allowing pedestrian access to the resorts of Meribel and Courcheval plus selected mountain restaurants, and the local bus link from St Martin offers access to the markets, shops, restaurants and sports & well being centre of Les Menuires.  This sports centre offers many activities including squash, badminton, table tennis, volleyball, basketball and more.  It offers a fun park with trampolines and bouncy castles for children whilst the well being centre offers a relaxation area, an indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a steam room, a Jacuzzi, an aqua gym and pre-natal classes as well as beauty treatments for the non-skiing adult.  Chalet Alice Velut is located just next to the new Tourist Information Centre in St Martin whose efficient staff have current information, itineraries and timetables to hand 7 days per week.
